Southern Swim School Code of Conduct
The Southern Swimming Pool has developed a customer code of conduct to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all customers and staff. It also hopes to encourage a seamless experience with us at the swimming pool.

If you think there is a problem speak to the instructor or swimming lesson coordinator at the end of the day’s lessons if possible, or the pool manager at the earliest convenience.

In the event of an emergency the lifeguard will blow a single long blast on their whistle.
All swimmers will move to the nearest side of the pool, leave the water, and wait further instructor from the poolside staff.
All spectators must stop what they are doing and wait for further instructions.
Should it be necessary to evacuate the building no attempt should be made to recover possessions from the changing rooms or anywhere else within the building.
Southern Swimming Pool staff will implement their emergency action plan training, in all instances where it is necessary to evacuate the building..
All instructors must hold a Swim England/STA teaching certificate. All lifeguards must hold an NPLQ certificate.

Arrive on Time

Swimmers should arrive on time for their swimming lesson
Medical

If you have a medical problem, or for example, use an inhaler, please disclose this on the enrolment form and advise the instructor
Food

The pool should not be used by persons who have consumed food within an hour of the start of the lesson time
Supervision

Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied in the changing room until they have been passed over to the swimming teacher, a parent or guardian MUST always remain within the building
Glasses
-
To avoid injury wearing spectacles within the water by a swimmer during the session is not recommended. Care of spectacles is the responsibility of the parent/guardian
Goggles
-
Swimming googles may be worn at the wearers own risk
Hair
-
Children with long hair should wear a swimming hat
Jewellery
-
Jewellery should not be worn
Swimwear
-
All swimmers must wear suitable swimwear
Water Safety

Only enter the water once your instructor has told you to do so
Listening
-
Always listen to your instructor if you do not understand please ask
Under 8s

For the safety of themselves and other children under the age of 8 must always be accompanied by an adult
Belongings
-
Personal belongings are left at the customers own risk
Shower Area

The shower is a “BARE FOOT ZONE” only: parents helping their children in the shower must remove shoes
Poolside
-
Parents/guardians must NOT access poolside
Food & Drink
-
No food or drink is allowed within the pool areas, disposable/reusable cups may be used whilst on the balcony for hot drinks. Plastic or non-breakable bottles may also be used
